All about HK!

Alright, i finally get to sit down and type away about the long-awaited hk updates and of course, with bonus pics! haha.

This is my 3rd trip to the land of food and shopping, and it definitely is the best trip of all!

FOOD
It's all about the food, baby. haha. We ate non-stop, from waking up early in the morning to try their dimsum, to stopping by road-side kiosks for curry fishballs, to satisfying our song song (watermelon juice+aloe vera craving). It was a real treat for our taste buds!

I was the one who discovered this amazing dessert, that they famously know as Song Song. It is a concoction of ice-blended watermelon juice with aloe vera jelly. It was such a delight to drink something so refreshing in the blazing hot summer! Needless to say, i went Song Song hunting almost 3 times a day, and at their Xu Liu Shan outlets (rem the defunct one in Spore that used to be at Shaw House?) The other desserts, including the mango pudding thingy was equally delicious... we went absolutely nuts.Us with our favourite drink-- Song Songs!

Lyn was craving for curry fishballs most of the time and she absolutely loved the stall at Mongkok, so rem to visit if you happen to be in the area.

Also, we happen to chance upon this really retro looking cafe that was in one of Ans' guide books called Mido Cafe. It was a blast back to the past! Check out my coke bottle and the retro cash register. The food there was pretty amazing too, with their best-sellers being the pastries and the porkchop rice thing that was introduced to the menu 50 years back!

NIGHTLIFE

Hk is also known for its beautiful neon lights that make up the amazing scenary at night. The best place to take in all in - THE PEAK!

The Peak

Ans and Lyn have not been there, so we decided to troop down to the bus station to take the Peak Tram up. Though its my second time looking down at all the buildings, it was still breathtaking, enough for us to pause for a few seconds and just appreciate how nice it is. Though it is now very commercialised, it is still a must-go place.

What is Hk without a visit to Lan Kwai Fong, the Holland V/Mohammed Sultan of the city? We wanted to see LKF in all its colour and spectre, not the dead-town that we saw the last time we went on a Monday night.

LKF is just like Holland, the atas place to be, and it was swarming with ang mohs, tons and tons of them, and it was so crowded! We managed to snag some seats in a bar to watch a World Cup match, and we realised they even have their own beer!

Us looking tipsy and damn tired after LKF

Disneyland

One of THE highlights for me during the trip! I am such a closet Disney buff, that once there, the kid in me was unleashed. I was so excited that i was laughing most of the time, and thank god for Ans, who was so game for everything! haha. BTW if you decide to go there for the rides, just forget it, they weren't scary at all, and we took a total of 2 rides. The shows were a much better bet, the Lion King musical one, the 3d animation one (my fave) and the Golden Mickeys!

The parade!

Of course, we just couldn't resist taking pictures with the characters! My only complain was... SNOW WHITE! What the hell, she is supposed to be like 16 in the cartoon and then, we got an almost-ah-ma dame ! I am not mean-spirited, cos i actually like Snow White, she is supposedly cute and angelic looking... but, hmmmm... see the pic and you will know what i mean.

Erm...

Lyn and I with Alice!

Pluto and me!

With Minnie, the Queen!

With Eeyore!

We also visited Tarzan's place, where we swung around and hung out with Jane and the monkeys. ha.

Another highlight of Disneyland is the Main Street, modelled after small town USA, a la Stars Hollow in Gilmore Girls. It is quaint, really cute and very nice. What's more, that is where we spent almost an hour shopping for nice souvenirs, that aren't too expensive. I also bought my Mucci hat there (cos it looks like a Gucci one, cept that it is monogrammed with Mickey heads)

Last but not least, we absolutely got blown away by the fireworks show. It was 20 minutes of pure delight, as the fireworks were synchronised to popular Disney tunes. We just stared and wowed, it was oddly romantic too. ha.

Well, for the rest of the entire trip, it was shopping shopping and shopping. The amount of shoes we bought were enough to last us for awhile.

It really was a great trip and i had so much fun, most fun that i've had in a long long while.

Thanks to my 3 comrades whom made the trip so much better for me, making me laugh every single day!

I'm back from Hong Kong!

It was a great trip, and seriously one of the best times we've had together.

I couldn't ask for a better time, or better company, or better food.. haha it was one helluva trip.

Loved every minute of it, even the getting lost *sheepish* ha.

Stay tuned for the pictures to come... =)

sometimes it's good to put it all out in the open.

sometimes it's also good not to assume too much.

sometimes the person you know best, can actually surprise you with thoughts and actions you never thought possible.

so maybe this is what it feels like for someone to actually care enough to fight, and to make sure you never walk out of their life again.

*fingers & toes crossed*

anyway its WORLD CUP season and seriously, i have dark eye rings from all the 3 am matches already....

my ITALIA just won last night, so that was a serious boost to my own morale, hah as many detractors keep insisting that they wouldn't get past the group stage. Ha.

(but just in case they really get kicked out, i still have a backup team in Portugal. ha)

so enjoy the season for it comes once in 4 years...

Updates...

oooo its been oh-so-long- since i've last updated so now its time to swamp u guys!

Work
Work has been so tiring with marathon meetings, publishing plans, budgets, press conferences, interviews and all the admin stuff to do, to the point where i am so drained. The days seem to pass so much faster and i know that when people ping me on msn and half the time i am not around to reply. I don't sit at my desk long enough to type a blog entry or to even blog-surf... Tho' tiring, its been really rewarding too, just knowing that things are really picking up for our department and new challenges await. As usual, i complain too much at work and i am so thankful for the SAINT sitting next to me, always there to back me up, no matter what... and the companionship from the crappy people keep me going...

but, i still wish i won't hafta work this entire weekend! argh!

Friends, Wedding & Love
Tho so tired and busy, i'm very glad that i still have my social life and people around to preserve my sanity. Met up with the musketeereens after the boys' exams, met up with the council peeps for coffee & walas, went for a HAPPENING bachelorette party, went for a wedding, met up with my beloved uni mate... too many to even list

there are happy moments, sweet moments, sad moments, breakups & crying episodes, while meeting these friends of mine. problems are being shared, and well, it does make the bond btw people so much stronger, so thank god for problems. haha.

all i know is, life will be so much quieter without my friends... and i treasure each and everyone of them soooooooooo much, including you, reading this now.

trips
i am just so looking forward to HONG KONG 2 weeks later, with some really cool people, where i am sure these will be in our itinerary--- shopping, Disneyland, shoes in mongkok, and eating all the dim sum in the world! Also, i'm going DIVING! argh, kinda excited being able to go for dives with my council mates... it would be so much fun, jus talking nonsense, being crazy and seeing the big-ass fishes under water!

us
i dunno whether to pen this down or not, but things have been really looking up and going well. seeing some future ahead and there seems to be a light somewhere... all i know is that we both really appreciate this second chance, and that even if things do not work out one day, all is good.

like i told him, thank god for the period of time where we were able to resolve things on our own, as 2 separate beings, and that we managed to resolve things as 2 people, not as a unit, nor a couple. having said that, the real work & test does come when we start resolving things as one.
whatever happens, somehow, i am very zen about it, like this really mild come-what-may mindset. it really doesn't matter anymore. we've been through the worst together and somehow, came out of it breathing & alive, albeit some scarring.

The scars wont go away, but it will fade, it will heal, and i guess, it stays, to remind us of a lesson we both learnt dearly, and it almost cost us a hand and a leg, but most importantly, it taught us to treasure everything so much more.

i'm not about to go all emo about it... but just thankful, that we never allowed anyone or anything to come between us, and we know we will always have each other in our hearts. =)
