Before Sunrise...

This is one hell of a movie. Now, i fully understand why its hj's fave movie of all times, why its so raved about and why it spawned a sequel 10 whole years later.

i watched it. Finally.

i know i am kinda slow, it was afterall made in 1995. But had i watch it back then, i prob would've yawned and fell asleep as i was a mere 13 year old who knew nuts about love and life.

It is a movie that is so subtlely romantic, so subtlely sweet, and so subtlely touching. It was a SUBTLE movie! But through the small little gestures, the tons of conversations, the looks that the leads shared, it spoke volumes.

What i love about the movie, was how natural the actors were, how much they were in their own skin and how their portrayal of the 2 strangers was so realistic. The scenario seemed really predictable and unreal, boy meets girl, boy talks to girl, boy asks girl to travel with him, boy falls in love with girl. It does sound stupid when its spelt out in simple words. Weird thing is, when Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy gave their performances, it felt like it really did happened, it was actually something that might happen in real life.

most of all, what i like about them is this raw but real energy in their relationship. one where differences manage to work their way out. She is this feministic romantic, and he is this skeptical and cynical guy. One thing they share, is how they love to dream but yet also fear to dream.

overall, it is a great "conversational" film. do not attempt to watch it if you're sleepy. Also, it makes a great alone film, and you'll find yourself getting a new take on life and love.

it's a film i would recommend to anyone, who dreams to love and loves to dream.

Daydream, delusion, limousine, eyelash
Oh baby with your pretty face
Drop a tear in my wineglass
Look at those big eyes
See what you mean to me
Sweet-cakes and milkshakes
I'm delusion angel
I'm fantasy parade
I want you to know what I think
Don't want you to guess anymore
You have no idea where I came from
We have no idea where we're going
Latched in life
Like branches in a river
Flowing downstream
Caught in the current
I'll carry you
You'll carry me
That's how it could be
Don't you know me?
Don't you know me by now?

Woo-hoo! It's the Singapore Fashion Festival '06!

HJ managed to snag tics to the MTV Fashionably Loud'06 last night! It was the opening show of the festival and we even caught Placebo in the act!

It was damn fun as we were at the "priority queue" in the mosh pit... hah. I was standing next to the runway so i get to peek up the models' skirts. Not that i really had to try, cos they were all in micro minis or even less. The guys sure had a fun day out.

Clothes on showcase were only all right, cos its punk-y, the Ed Hardy style, not really us. Loved the energy of the entire show though.

Next on our list is the Tangs Runway show where we, wannabe fashionistas, are gonna be acting like sua kus.

Most of all, i do really want tics for the Ashley Isham show!

Check out our adventures... hehe....

One of my fave songs of all time... just heard it on the radio and i absolutely lurrve it...

Love of a lifetime - Firehouse
I guess the time was right for us to say
We'd take our time and live our lives
Together day by day
We'll make a wish and send it on a prayer
We know our dreams will all come true
With love that we can share

With you I never wonder--will you be there for me
With you I never wonder--you're the right one for me
I finally found the love of a lifetime
A love to last my whole life through
I finally found the love of a lifetime
Forever in my heart
I finally found the love of a lifetime

With every kiss, our love is like brand-new
And every star up in the sky
Was made for me and you
Still we both know that the road is long
We know that we will be together
Because our love is strong

I finally found the love of a lifetime
A love to last my whole life through
I finally found the love of a lifetime
Forever in my heart
I finally found the love of a lifetime

someone once told me this:

we should all love the person we love, in the way they want to be loved.

well, we all understand it, but it just isn't as simple as it seems. If it is simple, it isn't called love, is it? If we all love the way we want to, there's no effort involved. It's putting in the effort that opens the heart.

i guess if we could all do that, this thing called love, might be simpler to attain. heh.

at least, i know now, and to follow through the course is not gonna b easy, but at least, there is a path.

On another note, i am just excited about my trip to San Fran... currently planning and checking out locations to stay and all the things i hafta buy. It will be my first solo trip abroad (leisure cum buisness) and i'm looking forward to all the shopping, eating and walking i can possibly do. I guess its also a time for myself to just chill and being with myself... it will be nice.

most of all, it is nice to be missed, to give people the opportunity to miss ya and to come back home with open arms waiting for ya...

Is it alright to dream once in a while?

everyone searches for that elusive thing called true love but how many people truly find it??

these few days i've been reflecting and talking alot about the future. i guess the closer it gets to making what u always envisioned a reality, the harder it is and the slower you move, with each and every step.

i am wary, i am scared... but i guess its not an impossible dream anymore, cos dream lives do come true, and a little nightmare in the dream won't shatter it.

maybe falling in love again isn't such a bad idea.

i just hafta be brave again.

Weekend updates...

Weekend whizzed by as usual... but this weekend, though busy, was great.

Went to pickup some Adidas sneakers with Ernie on Friday, Snakeskin Vintage Superstar... pretty damn cool. And i finally got to buy the ever-belated present... a pair of the coolest Slam City Skates... ha. one of the nicest pairs of nikes i've seen. i like.

And of course, i had to work on the weekends... eeks. After Expo on Sat, i managed to sneak in a bit of time at Suntec, at the stupid IT fair, where my walking speed was approximately 1 cm/hour. ARGH. blame it on those geeks.

Also, finally finally headed down to One Rochester Park with Ans, Lyn and Ernie. Cool place to chill. Nice ambience, in a colonial bungalow, like a huge house party... We had lotsa fun chatting before heading off for prata! (pictures to come.... stay tuned)

After all the fun, i had this insane bout of puking and cramps... oh my... but thank god i manage to squeeze in abit of down time for myself before it all came into play..

had literally one of my worst days at work.

all the pent-up angst + stress level just made me explode into a walking ball of flames.

had a huge responsibility of setting up the pre-event booth only to get all the info wrong thanks to the incompetent events people (i totally hate them to the core). my amazing marketing colleague who performed and carried out all her duties in the way that i am so damn proud of her, that she actually made it through the day.

had a bust-up with my designer who insists that i gave her the wrong instructions and i swear i did not. argh.

had to explain myself to my colleagues that i am not insane and that i was NOT WRONG only to have them pacify me, and tell me it didn't matter.

sometimes it doesn't matter, but when u know u are right, u feel indignant to put the matter to rest and have people tarnish whatever 'good name' u have left.

enough about work.

after work i had dinner with one of my fave friends in the world, mike (aka my hotshot director-to-be friend) who is back from the states for a measly week.

it is always amazing to have a friend whom you share a common topic with. With us, its all about the films. He clued me in on how difficult it is to direct an actor, to do the lighting on the set (with how many foot candles) and the work that goes in to make a 7 minute film. With mike, all he does every single time he comes back, is to wow me with his relentless passion for his craft. Forget eric khoo, and don't even mention jack neo, cos to me, mike's the guy.

and just fyi, film noir is the way to go for the next film trend...

thanks for making my day, my dear friend, cos work, afterall, is just work.

(dammit... forgot to take a pic of future hotshot director... argh)

BACK IN BUSINESS.

ooh la la. i'm back.

well, it has been a good long break... suddenly the itch to blog just came and i need to "scratch" it. ha.

changed my blog template to a simplistic one... which is also quite me.

anyway, loads to update since 20 days ago... so here they are in point form for easy reference...
  • had a good VDAY, ate dinner at Ajisen with my dear ah jia, and had dessert with Ernie, so talk about sweet endings. heh.
  • had a great 17th of feb too... dinner @ waraku followed by watching "Walk the Line" which i must say is amazing... Reese and Joaquin really deserved their Oscar nods. They blew me away.
  • went to MOS the other night and it is heeeuuuuge... got in without even queing, thanks to pammie sammie. We were on the VIP guest list lor! pwah. caught Kosheen in the act and they were fantastic.
  • also of course, highlight so far, is Brokeback Mountain. Amazing film, i can't stop raving about it even though its disturbingly sad. maybe its just different from any film i've watched. I know alot of u think its overhyped, some others may think that its simply Eeew, well, to each his own. I thought it was great. I can't wait for the Oscars next week!

also, highlight of it all, met up with 2 gals whom i haven't seen for a loooooong while. Pam was all the way in LA and Noeline, my dear dear Noeline, we just kinda lost touch after first 3 mths. Well, all is not lost, cos just one sesh of clubbing is enough to rekindle our lost friendship...

Note to DNT: Can't ever forget the good old days where u would b screaming "Parmella!" at the top of your voice in class, laughing at my silly RV uniform, scribbling secret msgs on our lecture notes and just hanging out in the caf trying to spot the cute J2 guys. Really miss u and Tara, so i'm glad that we get to hang out now and try not to lose ur phone again! ha.

p/s: oh handsome, single guys may apply with me if u wanna know my hot friend, Noeline. Strictly no freaks and stalkers.

pp/s: fave song at the moment-- STAY by Lisa Loeb. The word "stay" means alot when said by the right person.
